Mrs. Bell’s preschool class at South has been exploring rocks, fossils and other types of rocks. We have been chopping up our own sand and also making sand pictures.

2nd graders at South Elementary celebrated the 101st day of school by dressing as the 101 Dalmatians. They also had a special visitor, Zero the Hero, come read to them.




Mrs. Eckhoff’s South School kindergartners enjoyed a day of fun learning on our 100th day of school. We made pictures of what we might look like when we are 100 years old, counted one hundred snacks and counted in many different ways.





South School students and staff celebrated surpassing 100 days of school today.

4th Grade students at South Elementary earned a popcorn and movie reward. They did this by meeting their grade level goal of reading 5 million words!
There were seven students who contributed more than 300,000 words, including Jackson Sneed who surpassed 1 million words. Great job, 4th Grade!

Yesterday preschool through 2nd grade students at South Elementary had a visitor and guest reader in honor of President's Day. All students got to take home their very own Abraham Lincoln penny.

Miss Wooden's Kindergarten at South Elementary has started their Dinosaur Math unit this week along with learning how to measure with non-standard units such as linking cubes. They were able to take turns learning how tall each friend was.





Famous Missourians came to present about their lives to 3rd graders at South
Elementary last week. They did a fantastic job!





Students at South Elementary got to enjoy their Valentine's parties, including games and treats.





Over the last couple of weeks 5th grade students at South have been studying gravity and laws of motion. Students researched what modifications could be made to a container that would slow the container filled with an egg down in order to protect the egg from cracking as they dropped it from a considerable height. Out of 20 projects only 1 egg cracked! All of the students did a great job on this project!





2nd grade students at South have been working on their persuasive and opinion writing skills with Oreo cookies. The opinions shared and taste tests, generated great responses from these young learners.

Happy Counselor's Week to our counselors! They are the best. Thank you for all you do for our students and staff!





South Elementary announced their January top readers from each class in grades 2-5. These students read more words than anyone else in their class for the month of January. They received a t-shirt, pizza for lunch, and a coupon for a free piece of pizza from Casey's. Congratulations to Blake Wright, JuliAnn Lomax, Mason Costner, Gideon Yoder, Brooke White, Jackson Sneed, Macie Perkins, and Kairi Hair!
Today, we also got to celebrate some additional students who met their pizza from the principal goal for January. Special thanks to the Train Station for delivering pizza!




Mrs. Bell’s preschool class has been learning how to retell “The Mitten.” The students had to cut out and sew their mittens together, color, cut and label all their animals. Finally they got to retell the story, even to our principal.
